If you are looking for a thriller with blood and gore, this is not the book for you. ![]() Although the book does delve into the folklore and legend of Dracula, it's not your typical vampire book in that it's not action driven, but rather focuses on the history of this legend and a vampire adjusting to modern times. One fascinating aspect of the book follows Vlad Tepes, better known as Vlad the Impaler, notorious for his cruel and torturous punishments and quite possibly an inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. ![]() Elizabeth Kostova renders detailed descriptions of the people and customs of the late medieval period of Eastern Europe and presents these facts in an interesting, engaging manner, immersing the reader in this period. ![]() PBR Book Review: (by- Linda ) A long weighty novel that is meticulously researched and beautifully written. ![]()
